From sense to Soul my pathway lies before me,
From mist and shadow into Truth’s clear day;
The dawn of all things real is breaking o’er me,
My heart is singing: I have found the way.
(poem by Violet Hay, hymn 64 in The Christian Science Hymnal)
Have you ever considered that prayer might not just be a pleading with God? Like you may have, I’ve spent countless hours asking God to change my life or circumstances. I’ve been so glad to learn that the Christianity which Jesus taught, practiced, and healed through, didn’t revolve around some back-and-forth with God, but instead began with the primary facts: “the kingdom of God is within you,” because we are made in the image and likeness of God (see Luke 17:21 and Genesis 1:26).
I, along with so many others, have found renewal and healing in this God-centric, Bible-based prayerful approach to each day.
This type of prayer – this responsiveness to the presence and power of God – is not a special talent that only a few have, and is not limited in it’s application. This prayer, and the practice of this “Science of Christianity,” are practical and effective no matter one’s background or circumstances. Everyone is included in the healing, saving love of God – able to heal and be healed.
